FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sokaogon Medicinal Corporation (SMC) proposes Pilot Program to provide Cannabidiol (CBD) oil for Wisconsin patients suffering from seizure disorders

MOLE LAKE, WISCONSIN, January 22, 2016 – The Sokaogon Medicinal Corporation (SMC) seeks to develop a state-approved Pilot Program allowing for the cultivation of industrial hemp and manufacturing of CBD oil for treatment of seizure disorders. The Pilot Program will operate in accordance with Public Law 280, which legalized possession of CBD medication for State of Wisconsin patients suffering from seizure disorders, and the 2014 Farm Bill, which defines industrial hemp as the Cannabis sativa L. plant with less than 0.3 percent tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) concentration.

With no current method for patients to obtain medication, SMC views the Pilot Program as a unique opportunity to provide safe and reliable access for patients whose needs have not been met. According to Chris D. McGeshick, Tribal Chairman, “SMC will enhance the quality of life and promote wellness for registered patients with seizure disorders by providing alternative forms of medicine and leading research initiatives to increase an understanding of the diseases.”
