Sturgeon Bay City Council approves wording for two Spring election cannabis advisory referenda

Sturgeon Bay District 6 alder Seth Wiederanders tells Cannabadger that the Sturgeon Bay city council voted Jan. 15 to finalize and approve the wording of two cannabis advisory referendums for the April 2 spring election ballot in the city. The Council voted 5-2 to approve the wording.

The two questions to be asked are:

“Do you support the use of cannabis for medical purposes?”

“Do you support allowing adults 21 years of age and older to engage in the personal use of cannabis?”

Earlier on Jan. 15, the Wood County Board also approved a pair of advisory referendums for the April 2 ballot in the county.

According to the Wisconsin Elections Commission, resolutions authorizing city or county advisory referenda must be approved no later than 70 days before the election date, which they said would be Jan. 22 for the April 2, 2019 spring general election.
