While April 20 in Madison doesn’t offer the kind of public celebrations seen on the other side of the green line, there are a number of ways to celebrate the annual cannabis holiday.
10am-midnight: The downtown cannabis-themed Cheba Hut sandwich shop is again offering an all-day event with food and drink specials and 420-related promotions and activities on April 20 from 10am to closing. Cheba Hut Madison is located downtown at 453 W Gilman St.
4:20pm: As in past years, weather permitting, it is likely some cannabis enthusiasts will gather at 4:20pm on Bascom Hill on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, site of many past celebrations and cannabis events.
5:00pm: State Rep. Melissa Sargent (D-Madison) is holding a fundraiser, “Rep. Sargent’s Birthday Bash” at Pedro’s East. While not exactly a 4/20 themed event, it is an excellent opportunity to support Rep. Sargent, who has sponsored adult use/medical use hybrid legislation for several sessions and will soon be rolling out this session’s version. Pedro’s Mexican Restaurant 3555 East Washington Avenue, Madison.
8:00pm: High Noon Saloon 420 Party! AMP Presents a psychedelic reggae rager for the ages! Natty Nation, Thee Grateful Dub Band, DJ Trichrome and a late night tribute to Pink Floyd’s epic Animals album (featuring members of The Grasshoppers, Grateful Dub, & Overserved Gentleman)! High Noon is at 701 E Washington Ave, Madison.
Friday April 21 at 4:20pm: Finally, while not actually on April 20 but Friday April 21, be sure to check out Madison NORML’s 5th Annual Madison 420 Festival at the Brink Lounge and Nightclub. The event kicks off at 4:20pm Friday and features 12 bands on 2 stages. 701 East Washington Ave. Madison.
