The Racine Journal Times is reporting tat the Wisconsin Senate Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety, will hold an executive session Wed. Jan. 13, 2016 at 11:00 AM in 201 Southeast to vote on bipartisan cannabidiol legislation SB221, which would remove the need for a prescription to possess CBD in Wisconsin. The committee chairman Sen. Van Wanggaard (R-Racine),is also the senate sponsor of the bill. Sen. Wanggaard held a hearing Nov. 24 public hearing at the Capitol that Cannabadger covered here.
The article noted that, “State Sen. Van Wanggaard, who authored the measure, said the oil has proven to help people who suffer from seizures. The bill is narrowly written to apply only to the oil and not other derivatives of marijuana, he added.”
SB221 is expected to pass the Senate judiciary committee Wednesday and would then need to go to the full Senate. AB228, the state Assembly companion bill, also needs approval in that chamber before reaching the desk of Gov. Scott Walker.
