While a Racine County Board committee unanimously passed a proposal for an advisory referendum Tuesday night, supervisors in St. Croix County narrowly voted to table that county’s resolution.

The vote in St. Croix County to table the advisory referendum was 9-8 with two members abstaining. WQOW reported that “roughly 15 people spoke in favor of the proposal, but members wanted to gather more information before approving it for the ballot. The board member said the postponement effectively kills the chances of it getting on the ballot, because the deadline is August 28. ”

In Racine County, around 8pm, after debating and rejecting revising the wording of the advisory referendum resolution, the County Board’s Government Services Committee voted to forward the cannabis advisory referendum to the full board in a unanimous. 6-0 vote with one member absent. The board will vote on Mon. Aug. 13 at 6:30pm at 14200 Washington Ave, Sturtevant, WI 53177.

The city of Racine question was earlier split into three parts by the Public Works Committee, and the referendum language will ask if voters support:

Cannabis legalization for medicinal use.
